Much like the last piece that I posted, this digital art that I created hasn’t been seen before by the masses. It’s digital, and very much speaks to my frame of mind when I created it.

It was created about 9 months into my protracted unemployment. At this point, there was still some hope, some idea that I was actually wanted. I quickly created this art digitally, and had fun with it. It was supposed to go with an interview of me on a site, but it never happened.

It’s always been a good indicator of my life’s ideas, as many of my independent digital pieces are. Most often my work is based on a story or illustration for others. Many times, even my ink and other traditional works are still based on known (mostly) characters. My “for me” digital works, however, are only what lies in my head. Which often can be a scary place, even for me.

I don’t like telling people what to think about my art, or giving them hints of what they should see in it. But in this case, I’ll tell you what I think. At the end, of course, after you’ve seen it for yourself.

I have my own name for it, but for public use it is called, Of Life, Death, and Afterlife. Click on it to see a larger version. Stick around after to hear what I think.

For me, I think it represents the darkening of the time around when it was created. There was still some hope left, but much of it had faded by that point. Not quite the destructive crash of the summer, but I was getting there.

It can be taken as a very dark piece, certainly. The “end of times”, if you will. I don’t actually disagree with that sentiment at all, but there is a sense in it that, perhaps, I still could come out of things on top. Or at least surviving.
